Site security radios
Whether it's a wind farm, petrochemical site, or somewhere in between, the need for security radios can be important. Not just keeping things safe and secure, but for the safety of staff using them too. This was magnified by an event that took place in 2018 and was subsuquently concluded (compensation wise) in 2022.
A security worker on the Afton wind farm sadly died after being unable to contact his colleagues or the emergency services. A generator failed, with no back-up to provide heat, light or power - and as he was using a mobile phone to communicate, the lack of coverage meant he was unable to reach out for emergency help.
Some other workers on the site used two-way radios, so he had no means of contacting them either. Had there been a unified two-way communication solution in place, the worst case scenario may not have become a reality.
